Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
In a couple of weeks, it is DOSCEL Child Safety Week. This coincides with the NAPCAN’s National Child Protection Week which is held from 7th – 13th September and Safeguarding Sunday, which is held on Sunday, 14th September 2025. The Child Safety Week 2025 theme is Every Conversation Matters – Shifting Conversations to Action.Child Safety is a key priority at St Patrick’s. Throughout Child Safety Week, classes will focus on different areas of child safety and provide the students with information, supports and strategies to ensure their safety in various environments. Participating in Child SAFETY Week and having a focus on child safety across the school year, ensure that we meet the requirements of all schools, as set out in the Child Safe Standards.
There are a lot of great resources online to support you with making your child aware of the potential dangers and ultimately keeping them safe. Some of these resources are below.
Year 3/4 Activity Day
This Year our Year 3/4 students will be attending Camp Coolamatong for their camp experience. It will be a big day for the students, with an early start (8am) and a late finish (7:30pm). Throughout the day the students participate in a variety of activities including, canoeing, archery, bush cooking and a survivor challenge. The 3/4 Activity Day is the first camp type experience and I’m sure it will be a wonderful experience for them all.
Footy Colours Day
Next Friday 5th September we will also celebrate Father’s Day. All dads are invited to come and spend the afternoon with their child/ren. This year, students will be grouped in their House Colours so that all siblings are together and can spend the whole time with their dad together. The Father’s Day Afternoon begins at 2:30pm and dads can enter through the double gates on Dixon St. We hope to see you there!
Gippsland Biggest PJ Day - Friday 12th September
Lions Club Public Speaking Competition
Earlier this term, our Year 3-6 students had the opportunity to compete in the Lions Club Public Speaking Competition. The students that entered all did a fabulous job and should be proud of their efforts. The winners of the competition were:
- Year 5/6 – Will Longmuir
- Year 3/4 – Lilly Cherry
Will and Lilly will represent our school at the next stage on Thursday 11th September.
Heyfield and District Athletics Carnival
The Heyfield and District Athletics Carnival was held on Wednesday. The students from St Patrick’s achieved great results with 20 students qualifying for the Wellington Division Athletics Carnival, which takes place next Tuesday. We wish all the students competing the best of luck at the next stage of competition.
Kind regards,
Joel
